PARIS, 07 December 2005 – Boonty, the global expert in the digital distribution of video games, has signed a distribution agreement with Ubisoft, one of the world’s largest video game publishers, for the release of Prince of Persia® The Two Thrones™, the upcoming third title in the epic Prince of Persia® series of games.
Boonty now has European rights for the digital distribution1 of the PC version of Prince of Persia® The Two Thrones™. The game will be available in Europe December 8 on Boonty’s partner sites, which use its complete white label solution for downloading and distributing the game.
The digital distribution of this title confirms the growing importance of the dematerialized distribution circuit for video game blockbusters, together with Boonty’s leadership in rights negotiation with top video game publishers.
“Digital distribution is a channel that complements the traditional circuits, and we are fully aware of its potential,” said Josiane Valverde, director for non-retail sales at Ubisoft. “For these two titles, we chose the partner offering us the largest dematerialized distribution network in Europe but also the marketing and technological expertise needed to ensure optimum promotion for the game and reliable associated technology.”
Thanks to Boonty’s marketing and technology skills, the innovative offer now available means that players can benefit from the flexible aspect of Boonty’s dematerialized distribution.
In accordance with what it proposed to its partners as part of its service offer, Boonty has designed and set in action a promotion campaign for them based on the launch of Prince of Persia® The Two Thrones™, aiming for maximum visibility. Prince of Persia® The Two Thrones™ will be implemented on Boonty’s downloading and distribution platform, and Boonty itself will deal in total security with any technological issues relating to dematerialized distribution: digital rights management, download management, promoting the games, payment and customer relations.
“Making Prince of Persia® The Two Thrones™ available right from the time it is officially distributed shows that digital distribution is now aimed at hardcore and casual gamers alike. Our games offer and network of partners enable us to provide this global response to all types of players. We are very keen to launch Prince of Persia® The Two Thrones™ in Boonty’s network; it’s a truly remarkable game in terms of gameplay and the quality of its graphics,” says Mathieu Nouzareth, Boonty’s CEO.
In addition to European distribution, Prince of Persia® The Two Thrones™, will soon be distributed in the U.S. via Boonty’s network.
